25 February 2026
The creative network LATERAL has presented its LATERAL YEARBOOK 2025, a publication that documents and analyzes the main events in contemporary art in Granada over the last year. The volume is conceived as an archive that compiles exhibitions, festivals, interviews, and processes that have shaped the city’s cultural map in 2025.
The ANUARIO LATERAL 2025 is now available for purchase physically through the project’s online store and a digital copy can be downloaded for free at: https://lateralgranada.com/anuario-2025/
More than just a simple record, the yearbook is a space for convergence and a tool for contextualizing contemporary art in Granada. Its pages contain interviews, essays, and reports that not only document what has happened, but also analyze the dynamics, lines of work, and processes that articulate the artistic ecosystem in its relationship with the territory and cultural institutions.
Through in-depth interviews, the publication highlights the voices of figures such as Christian Walter, Loli Rodríguez, Ana Martínez Frías and Óscar Alonso Molina, as well as paying tribute to the career of Alejandro Gorafe.
The journey covers the major milestones that marked the cultural agenda in 2025, documenting key festivals such as Mediopán, Pa-ta-ta Festival and Alumbra Light Fest, as well as significant institutional exhibitions: Custodia Compartida, Andalucía Perpetuum Mobile, the Fernando G. Méndez exhibition and Viaje a la Luna.
The core of the publication focuses on bringing visibility to creative spaces in the network, documenting exhibitions held throughout the year by artists such as Miguel A. Moreno, Laura Segura Gómez, Mar Martín, Simón Zabell, Javier Domenech, Antonio F. Morillas, Fran Pérez Rus, Zhou Zixi and Rafael Chacón, as well as the Derivas del Graffiti project in Granada.
Likewise, the yearbook includes self-managed initiatives that contribute to structuring the independent scene, including the III Feria Lateral, the Fango Ceramic Festival and Lateral Abierto 2025, highlighting the synergy between institutional programming and independent practices within the city’s cultural network.
This archival work takes on strategic relevance in the context of Granada 2031. The yearbook serves as a tool for analysis and testimony, highlighting the existing creative potential and its ability to project itself nationally and internationally as a candidate for European Capital of Culture
The design and layout of the project were produced by Fran Pérez Rus with the support of GEGSA, the Botí Foundation and the Córdoba Provincial Council.
