The Fundación Secretariado Gitano joins Granada’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) is a national foundation that works to advance the interests of the Roma people by promoting social inclusion and recognition, and by defending their rights. On 15 June 2025, the FSG officially endorsed Granada’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031, joining the city’s collective project aimed at showcasing its cultural wealth to the world from an inclusive and pluralistic perspective.
The agreement was signed by Francisca Cortés Bermúdez, Provincial Coordinator of the Foundation in Granada. The Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, welcomed this addition, stating that Roma culture is part of the heart and soul of Granada and that its inclusion in the bid is an essential step towards building a fairer, more diverse and representative city.
