The Andalusian School Council backs the 2031 European Capital of Culture Granada bid, adding the support of the Andalusian Educational Community

The Mayor of Granada Marifrán Carazo, and the President of the Andalusian School Council Manuel Pérez today signed the official endorsement of the highest participatory body of the Andalusian educational community for the 2031 European Capital of Culture Granada bid. This support will allow the involvement of educational centers across Andalusia in one of the most ambitious cultural participation projects linked to the nomination.

The agreement is implemented through the launch of ‘Intergeneraculturalidad’, an initiative promoted by the Andalusian School Council that proposes that Andalusian schools, among other activities, develop a major educational project called ‘Los Crononautas de la memoria’ (The Memory Chrononauts). This project aims to preserve, learn about, and disseminate the shared cultural heritage of Andalusia, while simultaneously contributing to the promotion of the 2031 Granada bid.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training and the Granada City Council have been working on an educational proposal within the framework of the 2031 European Capital of Culture Granada bid to merge cultural and artistic tradition with AI and technology from the educational sphere. This initiative connects Granada’s cultural, historical, and literary past with contemporary languages and tools, ensuring the participation of all students in the capital. This ambitious proposal is currently taking shape and will have the city’s children and youth as co-authors of the region’s cultural future.
