Prominent flamenco artist Manuel Liñán endorses Granada’s ECOC 2031 bid
6 July 2025
The Granada-born dancer and choreographer Manuel Liñán, winner of the National Dance Award and a central figure in contemporary flamenco, has announced his support for the city’s bid to become a European Capital of Culture in 2031. Liñán’s endorsement adds to the growing support among Granada’s cultural figures for the ECOC project, which is being coordinated by the City Council. His support also elevates the status of flamenco, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, as one of the city’s major cultural pillars.
The participation of artists such as Liñán in the 2025 Granada Flamenco Biennial, which will take place at iconic venues including the Alhambra palace and in the historic Albaicín and Sacromonte districts, will further strengthen Granada’s position at the forefront of contemporary flamenco in Europe.
