The Granada Horse Riding and Carriage Club joins city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031
22 July 2025
The Granada Horse Riding and Carriage Club has officially endorsed the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031, lending the weight of an organisation embodying the link between heritage, tradition and social dynamism to Granada’s cultural initiative. Founded with the aim of preserving and promoting classical horsemanship and Andalusian carriage driving traditions, the Club is now another player aiming to showcase Granada’s cultural diversity across Europe.
The Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, welcomed the endorsement, highlighting that “the Horse Riding Club’s support is an example of how our most deeply rooted traditions are aligned with a project for the future of Granada. Equestrian culture is part of our collective identity, and the Club’s involvement in our bid reinforces the idea of a diverse Granada that is full of life and proud of its heritage.”
Directed by Dolores Enríquez Salmerón, the Club brings together dozens of families and enthusiasts who have participated in exhibitions, parades and educational activities throughout the province for many years. Its backing reinforces one of the bid’s main goals: to integrate traditional associations into a shared cultural narrative that combines artistic excellence, memory, and citizen participation.
