22 July 2025
Today, Antonio Sanz, the Regional Minister for the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, presented the design for a digital twin of the Alhambra and Generalife palaces in Granada. Joining him were Patricia del Pozo, the Regional Minister for Culture and Sport, and Marifrán Carazo, the Mayor of Granada. The project involves creating a virtual replica of the monuments to test innovative solutions that will transform the visitor experience and improve the conservation, accessibility and sustainability of the Nasrid complex.
The initiative, known as the Alhambra Living Lab, was launched by the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA) and has received over €3.2 million (€3,226,546) in funding as part of the Spain Living Lab project, within the framework of the Territorial Networks of Technological Specialisation (RETECH) programme. The project will run until June 2026, with the first use cases expected to launch in the first quarter of next year.
