Next Wednesday, April 8, Granada will hold commemorative events for the International Day of the Gypsy People; a day of unity that has taken place every year since 1990 to commemorate, celebrate and bring visibility to the Gypsy people and their history, culture, legacy and contribution to society.
“To speak of the gypsy people is to speak of the cultural essence of Granada. Its history, traditions and its way of understanding life are inextricably linked to our city’s identity,” said Amparo Arrabal, Councilor for Social Policy, Family, Disability and the Elderly during the presentation. In her remarks, Councillor Arrabal emphasized that April 8 “is not only a day of celebration, but also of recognition and commitment to equality and full inclusion.”
