Granada turns music into solidarity: six social entities will be beneficiaries of the FEX 2026 Solidarity Concerts
6 may
The Councilor for Culture, Jorge Saavedra, the delegate in Andalusia of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, Patricia Maldonado Pérez, and the director of the International Music and Dance Festival of Granada, Paolo Pinamonti, have announced the selected social entities that will benefit from the collection obtained in the FEX 2026 Solidarity Concerts, a consolidated initiative within the International Music and Dance Festival of Granada that is developed in collaboration with the City Council and ‘la Caixa’ Foundation.
This proposal, now in its fifteenth edition, places Granada as a benchmark in the union between culture and solidarity. In total, twenty social organizations have participated in the selection process, submitting ten
joint proposals—each one comprised of two organizations—with the aim of joining this solidarity program. The assessment criteria took into account aspects such as the artistic quality of the performances, their technical feasibility, the suitability of the proposed dates within the general programming, as well as the impact of the applicant entities activities on the city of Granada. The track record of participation in previous editions has also been taken into account, with particular emphasis placed on management capabilities and the results achieved in terms of fundraising.
Following the assessment process, three proposals have been selected tha stand out for their adaptation to the 2026 Extension Festival (FEX) programming. The beneficiary organizations for this edition will be
AGRAFIM (Granada Association of People Affected by Fibromyalgia and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and ASPACGRAP (Association of Cardiac Patients of Granada and Province), featuring the show El tiempo y la
memoria, starring flamenco singer Juan Pinilla and guitarist David Caro. OCREM Association (Organization Created for the Homeless) and Telephone of Hope Granada, with the musical proposal of Yanub, a sound trip through the Mediterranean with influences from different musical traditions.
The lineup is completed by Medicus Mundi Sur and the Granada Parkinson’s Association, featuring a classical guitar recital by Gonzalo Peñalosa Biedma, one of the most promising young performers of his
generation. The concerts will take place on 26, 27 June and 1 July in emblematic spaces of the city such as the Colegio Mayor Santa Cruz la Real, the Crucero of Hospital Real and the Palacio de los Córdova. Ticket proceeds, with a single price of 15 euros, will be donated in full to the social causes of the beneficiary entities, thus reinforcing the charitable nature of this initiative.
In addition to the institutional support and collaboration of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, this solidarity programme would not be possible without the altruistic commitment of the participating artists, who act selflessly, contributing their talent to this social cause.
