The European Capital of Culture 2031 Granada Consortium has approved the hiring of the new artistic director of the Granada 2031 project, the Granada cultural manager, pianist, and teacher Calio Alonso—this strategic appointment marks a further step forward for the city in meeting the recommendations and deadlines set by the European committee responsible for assessing applications for the European Capital of Culture.
The addition of this figure responds to one of the key recommendations made by the evaluation committee following the submission of the bid dossier in Madrid and represents a decisive step forward in the technical and cultural structure of the project. With this appointment, Granada is strengthening the conceptual, artistic and program-related development of a bid that aims to position the city as a major European hub for contemporary culture, heritage, creativity and international dialogue.
