Granada Digital has officially endorsed the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2031. The digital media outlet, which has operated in the province for two decades, joins a growing alliance of cultural, social, technological and media actors supporting this transformative project for the city.
The Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, welcomed the media company’s support, highlighting its leading role in the new era of local communication. “Granada Digital has carved out a niche for itself among the people of Granada through technological innovation, without losing sight of the city’s human and cultural spirit. This bid requires media organisations that not only inform, but also tell stories, interpret and connect Granada’s culture with Europe. Granada Digital is doing this with rigour, a local perspective and a vision for the future,” she said.
The Director of Granada Digital, Manuel Bayona, emphasised the media outlet’s commitment to cultural dissemination and the city’s digital transformation. “Granada is a city that lives and breathes art, history and talent. Our role in digital media is not only to report on what is happening, but also to amplify it and take it beyond our borders. Artificial intelligence, multimedia journalism and a close relationship with the public are our tools for connecting tradition with contemporary life. This bid is also an opportunity to tell the world who we are,” he explained.
The Granada 2031 bid is gaining momentum thanks to our informed and connected citizens, who are capable of combining history with the future and transforming culture into a common language for all of Europe.
